In a dramatic development in the murder case of Shri Kumar Medical Hall cashier Janki Das, two of the three arrested shooters were injured after allegedly attempting to escape from police custody while being transported from Jammu to Chandigarh.
Chandigarh Police had secured the transit remand of the three accused arrested in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the sensational daylight killing of ShJanki Das at Shri Kumar Medical Hall in Sector 11, Chandigarh. While the police team was bringing the accused back to Chandigarh, they allegedly tried to flee from custody during the journey.
Police sources said that officers initially attempted to stop the accused, but when they continued their escape attempt, the police opened fire. During the action, two accused, identified as Aryan and Sunny Mehra, sustained bullet injuries in their legs. The third accused was also overpowered and taken into custody.
The injured accused were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Doctors attending to them stated that both are currently in stable condition.
The case pertains to the shocking and sensational murder of Janki Das, a cashier at Shri Kumar Medical Hall in Sector 11, Chandigarh. He was shot dead in broad daylight, triggering widespread concern and a massive police investigation. Following the incident, Chandigarh Police conducted raids across several states.
During the course of the investigation, a Jammu and Kashmir connection emerged, prompting police teams to launch operations in the Union Territory. As a result, Aryan, Sunny Mehra, and another suspect were arrested approximately five days after the murder.
The incident has also drawn political attention. Member of Parliament Manish Tewari expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Janki Das and urged Chandigarh Police to ensure strict action against all those involved in the crime.
Further investigation into the murder and the alleged escape attempt is underway.
