Abohar (Face2News).
A youth, identified as Arshdeep Singh (20) of Kakhan Wali village died on the spot as his bike rammed into a truck near Chak Modi Kheda village of Abohar. It is said that the truck was parked on the roadside due to villagers’ protest against long power cuts.
Troubled by the power shortage for the last several days, the villagers today staged a dharna on the Abohar Dabwali National Highway and blocked the road due to which vehicles had to face a lot of trouble in scorching heat. Protest was joined by people from Seeto Gunno, Tarmala, Modikheda, Chakka Radheywala and Khubban villages who blocked the highway.
The protestors said that they get power supply for only 4-5 hours out of 24 hours, hence the condition of children and elderly people are bad. People said that this problem has been facing them for the last several days. PSPCL officials explained that these cuts are occurring due to repairs in the lines. People said that a few days ago a deputation met the concerned officials and they assured to restore normal supply but there was no improvement. Police officials reached the spot and talked to the PSPCL officials, who assured an early solution to the problem.
