The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Haryana Branch Office, conducted an enforcement raid on 1st July 2025 at the premises of the distributor M/s Punch Ratna Fasteners Pvt. Ltd., Unit III, located at 7th–8th KM Stone, Jind Road, Village & P.O. Titoli, Rohtak .

During the raid, the firm was found to have a stock of non-ISI marked Hexagonal Head Screws and Hexagonal Head Bolts, which fall under the scope of the Bolts, Nuts and Fasteners (Quality Control) Order, 2024. A search and seizure operation was carried out by a BIS team comprising Mr. Niraj Kumar Mahato, Deputy Director, and Mr. Anant Kumar, Deputy Director. A total of 360 non-ISI marked items were seized from the manufacturer. These products were found to be in violation of the QCO.

The enforcement action was successfully executed by the Haryana Branch Office as per the planned objectives. The operation achieved its primary goals of ensuring compliance with BIS standards and identifying violations of the Quality Control Order.

Sh. Ramesh K., Director & Head, Haryana Branch Office, stated that legal action will be taken against the offenders under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. The violations fall under Section 17(1) of the BIS Act, which is punishable with imprisonment of up to two years, or a fine of not less than ₹2,00,000. As per Section 29(3), a fine of up to ten times the value of the goods involved may also be imposed. Prosecution will be initiated in the competent court of law.

BIS has observed that many units are violating various Quality Control Orders and are engaged in the manufacture and sale of fake ISI-marked products for profit.

To protect consumer interests, the public is advised to verify the authenticity of the ISI mark before purchasing any product. This can be done by visiting the BIS website (www.bis.gov.in) or using the BIS CARE mobile app.

If consumers come across any misuse of the ISI mark, they are encouraged to report it to the Director & Head, Haryana Branch Office, BIS at Plot No. 4A, Sector 27-B, Madhya Marg, Chandigarh – 160019. Complaints can also be sent via email to: hhrbo@bis.gov.in | mdch1@bis.gov.in | complaints@bis.gov.in Phone: 0172-2650290.
