SEVEN LINKED TO CROSS-BORDER SUPPLY NETWORKS HELD WITH 10 PISTOLS, 1KG HEROIN, ONE DRONE 

ARRESTED ACCUSED WERE IN CONTACT WITH FOREIGN-BASED SMUGGLERS, SAYS DGP GAURAV YADAV, FOREIGN-BASED SMUGGLERS WERE FACILITATING THE SUPPLY OF ILLEGAL ARMS AND HEROIN FROM ACROSS BORDER: CP ASR HARMANBIR GILL

In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled two major cross-border drug and illegal arms supply networks with the arrest of seven individuals and recovered 10 illegal pistols, 1.054 kg Heroin, and a drone from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Monday.

Those arrested have been identified as Kuldeep Singh alias Bhullar (28), a native of village Rajoke in Tarn Taran and presently residing at Gumtala in Amritsar; Husanpreet Singh (21), a native of village Mehdipur and presently residing at Village Dhollan in Tarn Taran; Ahmed Raja (21), a resident of Sultanwind Road in Amritsar; Jagseer Singh alias Bobby (26), a resident of Mohalla Takshatri in Tarn Taran; Navideep Singh (20), a resident of Attari in Amritsar Rural; Anmoldeep Singh (19), a resident of Rorawali in Amritsar Rural; and Manjinder Singh alias Manga (37), a resident of Fatahpur in Amritsar.

The recovered pistols include one .30 Bore Zigana (Made in Turkiye), one 9mm Glock (Made in Austria), one 9MM PX5, two .30 bore (Made in China), two .30 bore Star mark, one .30 bore, one Glock 9MM and one .30 bore PX3 along with five live cartridges.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were in contact with foreign-based smugglers who were facilitating the supply of illegal arms and heroin from across the International Border.

The DGP said that further investigation is underway to establish the complete forward and backward linkages, identify other persons associated with the foreign-based handlers, and uncover the wider cross-border smuggling network.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Harmanbir Singh Gill said that acting on reliable intelligence, police teams initially arrested accused Kuldeep alias Bhullar and Husanpreet Singh, after recovering two pistols along with two live cartridges from their possession.

During sustained interrogation and further investigation, the arrested accused disclosed details about their associates involved in the illegal arms supply network, he said, while adding that acting on their disclosures, police teams arrested Ahmed Raja and Jagseer alias Bobby, and five more illegal pistols along three live cartridges were recovered from their possession.

The CP said that the weapons were allegedly intended to be used for targeting an opposite gang member in connection with an old rivalry. Probe has also revealed that accused Ahmed Raja has previously been involved in criminal cases, including cases related to murder, Arms Act and theft, he added.

Sharing details of another operation, CP Harmanbir Gill said that police initially arrested accused Navideep Singh and Anmoldeep Singh and recovered 1.054 kg heroin from their possession.

During the further course of investigation and sustained interrogation, police recovered three sophisticated pistols and one drone used for carrying out sorties across the border, said the CP, while adding that another accused Manjinder Singh alias Manga has also been arrested.

In this regard, two separate cases— FIR No. 142 dated 03.08.2026 under sections 25(6,7,8) of the Arms Act at Police Station Cantonment and FIR No. 134 dated 05.08.2026 under sections 21-B, 21-C and 29 of the NDPS Act, section 25(8) of the Arms Act and sections 10, 11 and 12 of the Aircraft Act at Police Station D-Division in Amritsar— have been registered.
