100 ARCHITECTS FROM CHANDIGARH, MOHALI AND PANCHKULA TO PARTICIPATE IN THE LEAGUE

The Architects Box Cricket League (ABCL), a unique sports and networking platform for architects across the Tricity, was officially launched. Through the league, practicing architects from Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula will come together on a common platform, combining their passion for cricket with professional networking.

In the inaugural edition of ABCL, a total of 100 architects will take the field across 10 franchise teams. A special feature of the league is that all teams were formed through a live player auction rather than the traditional selection process, adding a new level of excitement and competition to the event.

Focus on Networking and Community Spirit Along with Sports

Senior members of the Chandigarh Architects Group, Manmohan Khokher, Satish Panwar, Adesh Joshi and Narinder Sahni, said at a press conference that the objective of ABCL is not merely to organise a cricket competition but to provide the architectural community of the Tricity with a common platform.

The league aims to promote sports, fitness, networking and community spirit among architects. Participants underwent practice sessions for several weeks, following which competitive box-cricket matches will be played under floodlights. The matches will be held at Chandigarh Club.

Architects Inaugurate the League

The ABCL inaugural ceremony was launched by Architect Charanjit Singh, Architect Subhash Duggal, Architect Umesh Batra and Architect Vinod Joshi, who attended as Chief Guests. Architect Sangeet Sharma was present as the Guest of Honour.The event witnessed considerable enthusiasm among the participants over this unique blend of architecture and sport.

Live Auction Sees Intense Bidding for Players

The unveiling of all 10 franchise teams and the live player auction were the major highlights of the event. During the auction, the teams strategised and placed bids for their preferred players.
The organisers believe that this format will make the sport more exciting and participatory for the Tricity’s architectural community.

ABCL is being sponsored by Premier Agencies as the Title Partner. Several other brands, including Greenlam Laminates, D’More Surfaces, Window World, Mirage Glasses, Furnishing Studio, The Tile Studio, Ambroshyal, Jyoti Purever, Rhinox Pipe Fit, City Hardware and Martins, have also extended their support to the event.
First ABCL Season to Run for Six Weeks

The Architects Box Cricket League is a specially designed six-week box-cricket season for professional architects of the Tricity. According to the organisers, the first season will be held from August 25 to October 4.

The league began with the player auction at Novotel Hotel, Chandigarh, followed by practice sessions, floodlit matches and the concluding ceremony.

Ten franchises, each supported by a leading architectural products brand, will compete for the championship trophy. The organisers expect ABCL to give a new direction not only to professional networking among Tricity architects but also to sportsmanship, camaraderie and community engagement.
