Tightening the noose around the drug peddlers, an illegal house constructed on 10 acre Panchayat Land (Shaam Laat) by two drug smugglers, had been razed down by police at Sher Khan village in Ghall Khurd block on Thursday.

While divulging details, SSP Bhupinder Singh said that the police had received complaint from the BDPO office that the accused identified as Sukhdev Singh alias Sukha and his brother Gurmukh Singh alias Illu , had constructed a house at Sher Khan village in 15 acre land out of which 10 acre land, which belonged to Panchayat, had been illegally encroached. “Both the accused had been booked several times by police under NDPS Act. While Sukhdev had been booked in eight cases under NDPS , Gurmukh had been booked in seven cases under NDPS Act”, said SSP.

“The police had received a complaint from BDPO office and they had requested security support to vacate the encroached land. Upon recieving the complaint, their criminal history was checked and it was found that both brothers had been involved in drug smuggling and had constructed this house by using the drug money”, said SSP.

The SSP said that the accused had been issued three notices on April 24, May 16 and June 3, to vacate the land by the revenue department but they did not pay any heed. “The final notice had been issued yesterday informing them that the land will be forcibly vacated today if they will not vacate following which today's action had been taken.
