Under the leadership of senior Congress leader and former Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, a protest dharna was held today at Dara Studio Chowk, Mohali, demanding justice for the late Parvinder Singh Jhota. On this occasion, a strong voice was raised against the Punjab Government over the growing drug menace and deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
Balbir Singh Sidhu said that the Aam Aadmi Party government makes tall claims of eradicating drugs, but if everything is fine in Punjab, then why are people still worried about the drug problem? The government should clarify what concrete steps have actually been taken to root out the drug trade. The future of Punjab’s youth cannot be saved merely through advertisements and statements.
He said that the family of Parvinder Singh Jhota must get justice and there should be an impartial investigation into the entire matter. He questioned who is responsible for the safety of the people in Punjab. What is the government doing to ensure the safety of those who raise their voice against drugs and the common public? He demanded that all facts related to the case be brought to light and if anyone’s responsibility is established, strict action should be taken against them as per the law.
Cornering the Punjab Government, Balbir Singh Sidhu said that instead of evading people’s questions, the government should fix accountability. He questioned under whose patronage all this is happening in Punjab. When will the victim’s family get justice in the murder case of Parvinder Singh Jhota? Will the Punjab Government fix accountability in these cases?
He said that the Congress Party will continue to raise its voice against drugs and crime and will struggle at every level to get justice for the people of Punjab.
On this occasion, Baba Kashmira Singh Ji, Mukhtiar Singh Ji, Narinder Singh Ji, Neero Devi Ji, Bimla Devi Ji, Happy Malik Ji and Ashu Malik Ji were specially present.
