VIGILANCE BUREAU ARRESTS CONSTABLE FOR DEMANDING RS. 60,000 BRIBE

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption, on Tuesday, arrested Constable Adarshdeep Singh, posted at CIA-2 Staff, Amritsar for demanding a bribe of Rs. 60,000. 

(MOREPIC1)  Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the arrest has been made following a complaint lodged by a complainant, a resident of Amritsar, on the Chief Minister’s Anti Corruption Action Line.

(SUBHEAD)He further added that as per the complaint, the accused constable had demanded a bribe Rs. 60,000 for not registering a frivolous FIR against his neighbour Kishan Kumar. The complainant further stated that his neighbour Kishan Kumar was earlier involved in drug peddling but he had reformed himself due to stringent surveillance and action by the police. He is now working as a private security guard. The Police personnel of CIA-2, Amritsar had raided Kishan Kumar’s residence, but did not find anything illegal. The complainant further stated that the aforementioned police personnel had already taken Rs 50,000 in this regard and demanding the remaining amount. 

The spokesperson further informed that during verification, the allegations levelled in the complaint were found to be true. Subsequently, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the aforementioned accused at the VB Police Station, Amritsar Range and arrested the accused. He would be produced before the competent court tomorrow and further investigation into this case was under progress, said vigilance spokesperson.
