VICTORY DAY PARADE ORGANIZED TO COMMEMORATE INDIA’S TRIUMPH IN THE 1971 INDO-PAK WAR

To commemorate India’s historic victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, a grand Victory Day Parade was organized in Fazilka. The parade, dedicated to the memory of the war heroes, was jointly conducted by the Shaheedon Ki Samadh Committee Asafwala, the district administration, and the Indian Army. 

The parade was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu and SSP Varinder Singh Brar.

The DC met 1971 war veterans and the families of the martyred soldiers. She expressed deep gratitude for their sacrifices, stating that the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation will never be forgotten. She reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to the welfare of their families. 

(SUBHEAD)The parade witnessed enthusiastic participation from school students, who raised slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” and local residents, who warmly welcomed the procession by showering flowers on the way. The Indian Army band, accompanied by school children, performed patriotic songs to honour the sacrifices of the brave soldiers. 

A grand ceremony marked the conclusion of the parade at Ghanta Ghar Chowk. Brigadier Sushil Chandwani and Colonel (Retd.) MS Gill addressed the gathering. Colonel Gill shared memories of the 1971 war with the attendees. Children from the School of Eminence, Fazilka, enthralled with a vibrant Bhangra performance. 

Sandeep Gilhotra, President of the Shaheedon Ki Samadh Committee, thanked everyone for contributing to the event's success and emphasized the pride Fazilka takes in its valiant armed forces. 

Prominent attendees included ADC Subhash Chandra, SDM Kanwarjit Singh Mann, Praful Chander Nagpal, Shashikant, officials from the Indian Army and district administration.
