AKUL AND RANVIR HELPED UT BOYS TO SECURE 187 LEAD OVER HP

A half century from skipper Akul Bhanot followed by five wicket haul by Ranvir Ahuja helped hosts Chandigarh to secure 187 runs lead against HP in the opening encounter of the fourth Under 16 Balramji Das Tandon Multi Days Memorial Tournament being played at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Panchkula.

Earlier, UT boys opted to bat first and scored 167 runs with the help of Akul Bhanot (50), Anurag Budhwar (26) and Abhay Singh Gulia (25).In reply Ranvir Ahuja (5/29) and Abhay Singh Gulia (4/47) reduced Himachal for mere 36 runs. Himachal scored 56/1 in the second innings before the stumps were drawn.

In another match of the day played at the Cricket Institute of Chandigarh, J&K was in commanding position with 113 runs lead against Mizoram. J&K invited Mizoram to bat. Mir Waqas (6/66) bundled out Mizoram for 85 runs. Later, J&K scored 198/4 runs with unbeaten centurian Karan (124) 

In the third match of the day played at GNPS, Delhi had scored 129/8 runs in reply to Punjab's 164 runs. The lethal bowling attack led by Adhyan Bali's (6/101) wrapped up Punjab for 164 runs. Harpreet Singh (36) was the top scorer. By the end of the day's play, Delhi is struggling at 129/8. Aksmit Jindal scored 38 runs while Sahibjot Atall took four wickets.

The tournament will be formally inaugurated on Tuesday at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium wherein Haryana Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam will be the chief guest who will be hosted by UTCA’s President Sanjay Tandon.
