COLLECTIVE OATH TAKEN TO MAKE RAJASTHAN FREE OF CHILD MARRIAGE

As per the instructions of the District Collector Dr. Manju, a public awareness program was organized by Child Welfare Committee and Child Empowerment Department, Sriganganagar in Government Higher Secondary School and New Jyoti Higher Secondary School of Sanghar village of Suratgarh tehsil.

Child Welfare Committee Chairman Joginder Kaushik said that marriage of a boy below 21 years of age and a girl below 18 years of age is a legal offence. Renu Khairwa, Assistant Director of the Child Empowerment Department, discussed the child rights of children and encouraged them to be conscious about child rights. Rajiv Jakhar, Superintendent of Government Juvenile and Communication Home and Child Welfare Committee member Dr. Ram Prakash Sharma gave the message to root out social evil like child marriage.

Affidavits were filled by the team and an appeal was made to cooperate with the administration in ending the evil practice like child marriage. Advocate Amandeep Chalana, who came from the District Legal Services Authority, informed about various schemes of legal services on behalf of the authority.

Sarpanch from Sanghar Gram Panchayat, SDMC members of the school, Child Helpline Coordinator Trilok Verma and school children, staff and a large number of parents were present.
