PROCLAIMED OFFENDER WANTED IN 8 CRORE ROBBERY CASE ARRESTED

MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH IN HIGH-PROFILE ROBBERY CASE IN WHICH GOLD, DIAMOND AND SILVER ORNAMENTS WORTH MORE THAN  8 CRORE WERE ROBBED, A KEY CONSPIRATOR, ARRESTED AFTER OVER A YEAR ON THE RUN

In a major success, the Crime Branch has apprehended accused Ajeet Singh, a key conspirator in a high-profile robbery case involving gold, diamond, and silver ornaments worth ₹ 8 Crores. The robbery, which took place in Paharganj, Delhi, in August 2022, was carried out by a gang of seven persons, six of them were already arrested but one of them namely Ajeet Singh was on the run since then and he was finally traced and arrested by the diligent efforts of the team.

(MOREPIC1) The robbery case was registered on 31.08.2022, following a complaint by Somveer, a resident of Ambala City, Haryana. Somveer, who works for Jai Mata Di Logistics, reported that while he and his colleague, Jagdeesh Saini, were delivering gold and diamond ornaments in Delhi, they were ambushed by four men near Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, Paharganj, Delhi.

(SUBHEAD)The assailants, one of whom was dressed partially in a police uniform, blinded them with chili powder and forcibly took two bags and a carton containing the ornaments. The stolen goods included 6.27 kg of gold, 106 diamonds and 2.9 kg of silver, which was recovered from the instance of already arrested accused persons.

Mr. Amit Goel, IPS, DCP, Crime, said, during the course of investigation, the police have arrested several individuals involved in the robbery, including Manish Kumar, Nagesh Kumar, Shivam, Chitresh Bisht, Sachin Mehra, and Paramveer, all residents of Najafgarh. The stolen ornaments were recovered and seized from these individuals. However, accused Ajeet Singh, one of the main conspirators, managed to evade capture until now.

A team led by Inspectors Pankaj Malik and Rohit Kumar including ASI Sanjeev Kumar, HC Ashish, Cts. Ravindra Kumar and Dinesh Kumar, under the close supervision of ACP Ramesh Chander Lamba, successfully traced and apprehended Ajeet Singh from his hideout in Mahavir Enclave, Palam Village, Delhi. Accused Ajeet Singh was living under an assumed identity to avoid detection. To escape the clutches of law, he was frequently changing his residential addresses as well as his mobile nos. But with sustained and relentless efforts of Ct. Ravindra Kumar, the team succeeded to locate of his present whereabouts and tracked him swiftly.

KNOW THE ACCUSED:  Accused Ajeet Singh hails from a lower-middle-class family from village Silani, Jhajjar, Haryana. He is a 10th-grade passout and was working as a bus driver in Dwarka, Delhi, at the time of his arrest. Before the robbery, he resided in Gopal Nagar, Najafgarh, where he conspired with his neighbors and relatives, including his nephew Nagesh Kumar, to commit the crime.
