PLAZA ZONE AND SUKHNA ZONE EMERGED VICTORIOUS IN RAIN-INTERRUPTED MATCHES

Plaza Zone and Sukhna Zone won their matches at the ongoing UTCA Men's Under 23 One Day Tournament by the virtue of VJD method. In the first match played at Baba Balak Nath Cricket Academy, Plaza Zone won the toss against Bird Zone.

Plaza Zone collapsed at 231 runs wherein skipper Jashn Beniwal (50) and Gagan Verma (50) scored half centuries while Aryan Verma contributed 43 runs. Shahbaz Singh, Yukshant Rana and Ansh Khosla took two wickets each from the opposition's side.

In reply, before the rain, Bird Zone could manage 92 runs at the loss of four wickets in the 30th over. Later, Plaza Zone was declared the winner by 36 runs with the intervention of VJD method. Injured Himank scored 34 runs while captain Yuvraj Rai added 26 runs from Bird Zone's side. Ayush Shukla took three wickets from the bowling end.

Meanwhile, in the another match of the day played at SSCA 32 Cricket Academy, Sukhna Zone defeated Leisure Zone by 73 runs with VJD method. Sukhna Zone, batting first, scored 277/6 in the stipulated fifty overs as Dushyant Thamman (106) scored a century while Gurtaj Singh (61) and captain Paras Kumar (51) smashed half centuries. In reply, Leisure Zone scored 141 runs at the loss of six wickets by the 37th over before rain interrupted the proceedings. Match couldn’t be resumed and Sukhna Zone was declared as winner.
