LORD JAGANNATH RATH YATRA ORGANISED IN CITY BEAUTIFUL WITH GREAT ENTHUSIASM AND DEVOTION, PURUHIT FLAGGED OFF

The Chandigarh branch of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) organized Lord Jagannath’s 38th Rath Yatra in the city beautiful with great preparedness, enthusiasm and devotion.

The Rath Yatra started at 3.00 P.M. from ISKCON Sector 36-B when Sh. Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of U.T. Chandigarh flagged the Rath Yatra after worshipping Lord Jagannath. Sh. Purohit swept the path before the Rath with golden brooms and then pulled the chariot carrying the deities of Lord Jagannath, Lord Baladeva and Devi Subhadra.

The Governor appreciated ISKCON for its efforts to spread the message of Bhagavad Gita & Holy Names of the Lord all over the world which has changed the lives of lacs of people into Divinity and urged the public to believe in God and follow His instructions.

(SUBHEAD)Hundreds of ISKCON devotees come for the Rath Yatra. Lord Jagannath, Lord Baladev & Devi Subhadra offered 1008 Bhoga offerings. After the Bhoga offering, Aarti was done by about prominent citizens and dignitaries of the city Beautiful.

As a large number of devotees were pulling the chariot, another group of devotees was busy ecstatically in Sankirtan and dancing before the chariot, while many volunteers of ISKCON were seen liberally distributing small packets of prasadam to all the participants and onlookers.

This type of special Rath was initially designed by an American ISKCON devotee His Grace Jayanand Das in 1967.
