GALORE OF CENTURIES ON DAY TWO OF UTCA DOMESTIC TOURNAMENT, SUKHNA ZONE AND ROSE ZONE WON THEIR MATCHES

The second day of the UTCA domestic cricket tournament witnessed series of centuries in the men’s senior categories being played at Launching Pad Cricket Academy. In a high scoring league match, Sukhna Zone defeated Leisure Zone by 27 runs.

Batting first, Sukhna Zone scored a mammoth of 388/4 with the century kncok from retired hurt Arjun Azad (101), Vikas Kumar (100) and half centuries from skipper Raj Angad Bawa (78) and Chiragveer Singh Dhindsa (51).

In reply, opener Mohd Arsalan Khan (106) and Ayush Sikka (60) and Pradeep Yadav (53) failed to bring match in their favour as Leisure Zone was restricted at 361/6 . In another match of the day, Rose Zone beat Plaza Zone by 26 runs. Batting first, Rose Zone scored 258/6 in the stipulated 40 overs wherein Amrit Lubana (85) scored the highest score while Nehal Pajni contributed 64 runs.

In reply, lethan bowling attack led by Varun Kumar (4/36) restricted Plaza Zone to 232/9. Karan Singh (92) was the top scorer while skipper Shivam Bhambri (68) scored a half century. 

Meanwhile, in Women's Seniors match played at Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, Sukhna Zone beat Terrace Zone by three wickets. Terrace Zone scored 113/4 in the stipulated 20 overs as Sarah Mahajan (36) emerged as the top scorer while Shivani Thakur contributed 28 runs. In reply, Sukhna Zone, once struggling at 53/6 bounced back to, won the match the 19th over.

The contributions from ailenders Priyanka (31) and Monique Pandey (23) proved vital. In the second match of the day, Rock Zone defeated Plaza Zone by nine wickets in a one-sided affair. Plaza Zone scored 148/2 runs with the fine contributions from Akshita Sharma (68) and unbeaten Eknoor Kaur (36). In reply, Rock Zone won the match in the 19th over as Twinkle Pathak (78) and Simran Johal (57) brought the team home.
