Shiv Jayanti and Women Day was celebrated together by Brahma Kumaris here on Friday. BSF Commandant SK Mishra and Municipal Corporation Mayor Vimal Thatai jointly unfurled the Shiva Flag.
(MOREPIC1) Center in-charge BK Pushplata welcomed the guests by applying tilak. People in large numbers showered flowers. Balloons giving the message of world peace were also released in the air.
BK Sunita conducted the stage while Bk Darshana highlighted the importance of Trimurti Shiv Jayanti. Mehak performed the welcome dance. BK Shalu presented bouquets to the guests on the dais who later lit the lamp to inaugurate the function.(SUBHEAD)
Commandant Mishra said that Brahma Kumaris, the largest organization run mainly by women in the world, has taken unprecedented steps towards women empowerment. People should be inspired to cooperate with the administration to end the drug menace.
Mayor Vimal Thatai said that on Shiv Jayanti we should take a pledge to give up all kinds of vices, hatred, narrow-mindedness etc.
Lekhak Parishad chief Raj Sadosh said that equal participation of women should be ensured in all statutory units. The impact of the ongoing women empowerment campaign in India is also being felt in neighbouring West Punjab by electing a woman, Maryam Nawaz, as Chief Minister.
