VB NABS TECHNICAL ASISTANT OF REVENUE DEPT FOR TAKING RS 35,000 BRIBE

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Wednesday arrested Kulbir Singh, posted as Technical Assistant in the office of Tehsildar Mehal Kalan, Barnala district for accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000.

(MOREPIC1) Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said this case has been registered on a complaint lodged by Sanjay Singh, a resident of town Mehal Kalan.

He further added that the complainant has alleged that the above mentioned accused has demanded Rs 40,000 for getting the registry done from Naib Tehsildar Mehal Kalan through concerned halqa Patwari Hardev Singh.

The spokesperson informed that after a preliminary enquiry of this complaint a VB team from Patiala range laid a trap and the said accused nabbed on the spot while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. In this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at police station VB range Patiala. He would be produced in court tomorrow and role of other officers/officials would also be examined during the probe, he added.
