VB REGISTERS CASE AGAINST PATWARI, THREE FARMERS FOR AVAILING RS 4 LAKH DEBT RELIEF ILLEGALLY

ARRESTS PATWARI, TWO FARMERS FOR SUBMITTING WRONG AFFIDAVITS

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested a revenue Patwari and two farmers for availing debt relief of Punjab government amounting to Rs 4,02,222 by submitting wrong affidavits.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said this case has been registered on the basis of an enquiry against Balkar Singh, Patwari, revenue halqua Hamirgarh, now posted at Tehsil office Bhwanigarh, Sangrur district, a resident of new officer colony, Patiala. Besides this two private persons of village Hamirgarh namely Ram Singh and Surinder Singh have also been arrested and third accused farmer Hardev Singh of Hamirgarh would be arrested soon.

Giving more details he added that all the above said farmers duly possess agricultural land more than 5 acres each and were not eligible to get benefits of debt relief provided by the previous government. These accused, in connivance with the Patwari, have filed false affidavits with the agricultural department for availing the benefits. During the probe it has came to light that the said Patwari had not uploaded actual reports on the portal regarding the lands owned by these farmers and they got illegal debt relief.

It has been found that Ram Singh had received debt relief to the tune of 1,28,249, Surinder Singh got Rs 96,258 and Hardev Singh availed relief of Rs 1,77,716. In this way all the accused have caused loss of Rs 4,02,222 to the state exchequer.

He further added that the the VB police station Patiala range has registered a case against all the above mentioned accused and further investigation was under progress, he added.
