Hundreds of people in Nai Abadi and adjoining colonies get relief with the shifting of SBI branch office from Bhagat Singh Chowk to Connaught Place market in the Tara Estate opposite PSPCL office complex.
People have been facing hardships earlier due to the shifting of the main branches of two big banks to Abha Square. Nai Abadi and adjoining colonies that have half of the total population in Abohar had no easy access to banking.
Samaj Sudhar Sabha president Rajesh Gupta said that he had launched a signature campaign on this issue, relief comes now.
Ramesh Sidana, a resident of Sidhu Nagri, said that for old age pensions, the elderly had to walk a lot to reach the banks in the past.
Kandhwala Road businessmen Rajesh Kataria and Jasbir Singh Jassal said that the opening of the SBI branch has provided great convenience to the common citizens.
The branch office was formally inaugurated by manager Yogeshwar Kant and staff by performing Havan Yagna. People expressed happiness by distributing laddus on the occasion.
