PARENTS SHOULD FEEL PROUD OF DAUGHTERS: DR. BALJIT KAUR

Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur participated in the “Lohari dhiyan di” function here.

She congratulated and honored the parents of 21 new born daughters on the occasion. She said that the parents are lucky when a girl child is born because the most attention is given to the parents by daughters. She said that parents should feel proud of their daughters. She was feeling very proud celebrating Lohri with these daughters. They are not behind in any field, the purpose of celebrating daughters' Lohri is to change old traditions, she said.(SUBHEAD)

Baljit Kaur said that in the olden days, Lohri festival was celebrated happily only when male children were born, but now the festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm even on the birth of girls. She said that it is the nature of Punjabis to change traditions and the land of Malwa has presented these examples from time to time.
