FAZILKA POLICE RECOVER 130 LOST MOBILE PHONES, HAND OVER TO ORIGINAL OWNERS

With the help of CEIR portal, the Cybercrime Police of District Fazilka successfully traced 130 lost mobile phones and handed the same to their original owners with the help of CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal.

On getting the mobile phone back at a brief ceremony from SP Gagan Ajit Singh, the people thanked the Fazilka police and appreciated the public initiative of the police.

The SSP said that the different police stations of district Fazilka also recover lost and stolen mobile phones from time to time and hand them over to their original owners. He appealed to the people that if someone’s mobile phone is lost or stolen, they should immediately contact the nearest police station or cybercrime police station and also register their complaint on the CEIR portal, so that the mobile phone can be blocked through IMEI number and its tracing.

The CEIR portal (Central Equipment Identity Register) is a modern portal of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Government of India, through which the IMEI number of mobile phones is managed. With the help of this portal, a lost or stolen mobile can be blocked, making it difficult to use it on the network even with another SIM. Official police agencies can trace mobiles with the help of information available through CEIR. After the mobile is recovered, it is unlocked and handed over to the original owners.
