Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian today inspected the project to widen Airport Road from Sector 65/66 Junction to Sector 66B in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar.

During inspection, Mr. Mundian found that the work was progressing slowly and was not up to the mark. He immediately took strong notice of this and reprimanded the concerned officials on the spot. He instructed the Principal Secretary of the department to investigate the matter and ensure accountability.

The Minister stated, contrary to the progress shown on paper, much less work had been done on the ground. Furthermore, the quality of the work was not up to required standard, which is unacceptable. He warned that strict action would be taken against anyone responsible, whether a department official or a contractor.

(SUBHEAD)Mr. Mundian emphasised that while the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to the overall development of the state and the planned development of cities forms an important part in this developmental journey. Hence, laxity or negligence in any government work will not be tolerated.

The Minister further added that Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar has recently become the most developed city in the state, with an increase in residential population and corporate offices alongside the International airport. He stated that GMADA is leaving no stone unturned in the development of this area, and he himself will continue to inspect the ongoing works from time to time.
