On the intervening night of 08/09.09.2025 at around 3:00 AM, a PCR call was received at PS Subzi Mandi that a four-storied building had collapsed at Punjabi Basti, Subzi Mandi and several people had been stuck in the debris.

On receipt of the call, a police team led by Inspr. Banwari Lal, SHO/PS Subzi Mandi, comprising Inspr. Manu Dev (Inspr. ATO), HC Deepak, HC Pradeep, Ct. Sahil, Ct. Lal Chand and Ct. Shubham immediately rushed the place of incident where it was learnt that the incident occurred at House No. 2475/76, Punjabi Basti, near Buta Singh Gurudwara, Subzi Mandi. A four-storied building had collapsed and approximately 20-22 people were reported to be stuck in the debris.

Two fire brigades, NDRF team, six PCR vans, four ambulances and staff from SDM office also reached promptly at the site. The local police along-with all stakeholders instantly sprang into the action in a planned manner. The people, who were stuck in the adjacent building due to partial structural damage, were safely rescued and there was no casualty. Some of the injured persons were taken to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital where they were admitted for treatment and later discharged.

Portions of two nearby buildings were also damaged due to the collapse, leading to the temporary entrapment of the occupants. All trapped individuals have been safely evacuated. Several vehicles parked in the narrow lane, including few motorcycles and a car were also found damaged in this incident.

The collapsed building was already unoccupied and no one was residing in it. Prior intimation regarding the dilapidated condition of the building had already been given to MCD by the local police.

The family members of rescued people got a sigh of relief and expressed their heartfelt gratitude and many blessings to the whole team of PS Subzi Mandi as well as to the stakeholders for their prompt action and well planned rescue operation.

The team's alertness, timely action, and humane approach are highly commendable. The prompt and sensitive response of the dedicated police team reflected the commitment of Delhi Police towards public safety, especially the protection of vulnerable people, added Mr. Raja Banthia, IPS  DCP, North Distt.
