After a grand opening in Lucknow, the SBI Green Marathon Season 6 carried its green wave to Chandigarh, in collaboration with Mirchi. The scenic Chandigarh Club turned into a hub of energy and responsibility, where fitness, inclusivity, and sustainability came together.

More than 4,000 participants ran with pride — celebrating fitness, community spirit, and environmental responsibility. The presence of Army personnel added a spirit of discipline and patriotism, while the participation of wheelchair runners and specially-abled children reinforced the marathon’s message of inclusivity, resilience, and equal opportunity. Chandigarh’s people — known for their vibrant energy and progressive mindset — embraced the cause of “Run for a Greener India” with unmatched zeal.

The marathon was flagged off by SBI dignitaries — Shri Krishan Sharma, Chief General Manager; Shri Neeraj Bharti, General Manager (Network-2); Shri Vimal Kishore, General Manager (Network-3); Shri Manmeet S. Chhabra, General Manager (Network-1). Their presence underscored the importance of unity in driving positive change for the planet.

As always, SBI and Mirchi ensured that the marathon stayed true to its sustainability-first ethos:

(SUBHEAD)Organic T-shirts, plantable BIBs, and cloth goodie bags made sustainability a part of every runner’s journey.

For the first time in India, participants were provided with black alkaline water — a premium hydration solution with a higher pH level and added minerals — supporting recovery, reducing fatigue, and promoting overall well-being.

Waste Management Partner Skrap ensured post-event waste was recycled and segregated responsibly, with a sustainability report to follow.

Mirchi RJs Omika and Abby added their infectious energy, cheering runners and families on every step of the way, turning the marathon into a true celebration of Chandigarh’s spirit.

With 5K, 10K, and 21K categories, the AIMS-certified marathon brought together beginners, seasoned athletes, fitness groups, families, wheelchair athletes, and specially-abled children — each contributing to a powerful message of inclusion and sustainability. The route through Chandigarh’s tree-lined boulevards and open landscapes reflected the city’s unique harmony of nature and modernity, offering inspiration at every turn.

From the ceremonial flag-off to the hearty breakfast awaiting finishers, the SBI Green Marathon in association with Mirchi reflected Chandigarh’s warmth, inclusivity, and commitment to a greener tomorrow.

With Chandigarh proudly hosting the second leg, the SBI Green Marathon Season 6 now continues its journey across 17 cities of India, inspiring thousands to run for their health, their community, and the planet.

Because every run, every stride, and every breath counts — for a Greener India.
