At a significant sports competition organised by Milkha Singh Masters Athletics Club, Bathinda, Abohar’s Jassal Couple once again established an amazing performance.

Jaspal Kaur in 75+ category won Gold medal in discus throw and Javelin throw. She was honoured with a memento and shawl being the eldest female athlete of the championship. Her husband Gulshinder Singh Jassal won a bronze medal in Long jump in the age 73+ category competition.

Both had retired on superannuation of Education Department service and have been participating in the Masters athletics championships not only in Punjab and other states also. While serving as teachers, they used to motivate youths against drugs and other social evils which damage the social structure besides ruining families.

They had won six medals in the 13th Rajasthan Masters Athletics. In 2023, the veteran couple won Gold and Bronze Medals while participating in Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan Season-2. They were honoured by the Punjab Sports Department. The couple had been honoured on several occasions in their hometown Abohar.
