FORMER PUNJAB DGP MOHAMMAD MUSTAFA, FORMER MINISTER RAZIA, SISTER, AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW BOOKED ON CHARGE OF MURDER OF SON AND CONSPIRACY

A case has been registered at the MDC police station here against former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa (Human Rights), his wife, former minister Razia Sultana, daughter, and daughter-in-law for the murder and conspiracy of lawyer son Akil Akhtar.

In the case of the death of Akil, son of former Punjab Cabinet Minister Razia Sultana and former Punjab DGP (Human Rights) Mohammad Mustafa, neighbor Shamsuddin has made serious allegations, claiming that Akil's wife and his father in law had an illicit relationship, in which Razia Sultana was also involved.

(MOREPIC3)Shamsuddin resident of Malerkotla, submitted a complaint to the Panchkula Police Commissioner, based on which the Panchkula MDC police station has now registered a case under Section 103(1), 61 BNS.

Akil had died late on October 16th in Panchkula. The family stated that he died of a drug overdose. He was admitted to Sector 6 Civil Hospital, Panchkula, where he was declared dead. His postmortem was conducted and the body was handed over to the parents. 

He was buried in his parental village in Saharanpur UP. Postmortem report is still awaited.

Subsequently, a video of Aqeel, dated August 27th, surfaced. In  which  he alleges that family members are plotting to kill him. He also mentions his father's illicit relationship with his wife.

Meanwhile DCP Panchkula Srishti Gupta said, on 16.10.2025, Shri Aqil Akhtar, resident of Sector 4, MDC, Panchkula, was found dead in his residence. The family members informed the police, and their statement was recorded. As no foul play was initially suspected, post-mortem examination was conducted, and the body was handed over to the family for last rites. 

(MOREPIC4) (SUBHEAD)Subsequently, certain social media posts and videos surfaced, purportedly made by the deceased prior to his death, alleging personal disputes and apprehensions about threats to his life. On 17.10.2025, a complaint was received from one Shri Shamshuddin of Malerkotla, Punjab, alleging foul play in the incident. In view of the complaint and the contents of the social media posts, FIR No. 131 dated 20.10.2025 under Section 103(1), 61 BNS has been registered at Police Station MDC, Panchkula. 

DCP further added that, to ensure a thorough, impartial, and evidence-based investigation, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted under the supervision of an ACP-rank officer. The SIT will conduct a deep and scientific probe into all aspects surrounding the case. 

It is reiterated that the investigation shall be conducted with an open mind and without any prejudice, ensuring that no guilty person is spared and no innocent person suffers. The Panchkula Police remains committed to upholding transparency and justice in this matter.
