The Income Tax Departments of Panchkula and Chandigarh jointly organized a special programme to commemorate the twin themes of “Swachhta Hi Seva” and “Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility.” The event took place at the Auditorium of the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Sector 26, Chandigarh.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Ms. Vidisha Kalra, IRS, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Panchkula and Shimla, while the Guest of Honour was Ms. Vatsalaa Jha, IRS, Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), North-West Region, Chandigarh. The programme was organised under the guidance of Smt. Komal Jogpal, IRS, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (OSD), Panchkula and Review Unit, Chandigarh.

A unique and engaging format was adopted through the staging of Nukkad Nataks (street plays) highlighting issues of vigilance awareness, drug de-addiction (Nasha Mukti Abhiyan), and environmental protection.

The performances were coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Prabhjot Gurnon Bajju, Founder and Director of Meeshan Foundation, Panchkula. The artistes of the Manthan Arts and Theatre Society, led by Shri Heera Singh, presented two captivating skits on anti-corruption and pollution control, receiving resounding applause from the audience. Additionally, students from Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, Nanakpur, Panchkula, staged a powerful Nukkad Natak on drug de-addiction.

On this occasion, the 15th edition of ‘Pallav,’ the house journal of the Income Tax Department, Haryana, was released by the dignitaries. As a special gesture, Safai Karamcharis from the Panchkula and Chandigarh departmental buildings were felicitated on stage, and group photographs were taken to commemorate the moment.

The winners of the Vigilance Awareness Week competitions and the Hindi Pratiyogita were also honoured with certificates during the programme.

In her address, Ms. Vidisha Kalra, IRS, emphasized: “Vigilance, integrity, and transparency form the foundation of good governance. These values must become an integral part of our work culture. Through cleanliness, vigilance, and the effective use of our national language Hindi, we can not only enhance departmental efficiency but also contribute significantly to nation-building.”

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers and officials of the Income Tax Departments of Panchkula and Chandigarh, who appreciated the performances with great zeal and enthusiasm. The programme was hosted and compered by Ms. Poonam Rai, IRS, Chandigarh.
