Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (HBCH&RC), Punjab, successfully organized a two-day conference on Orthopedic Oncology at its New Chandigarh campus.

The comprehensive scientific agenda focused on a detailed review of the diagnosis and management of bone tumors, both benign and malignant. Participants gained crucial insight into the critical role of imaging and histopathology in evaluating and planning treatment.

Dr. (Professor) Ashish Gulia, Director of HBCH&RC Punjab, who also serves as the President of the IMSOS (The Indian Musculo Skeletal Oncology Society), highlighted the importance of such scientific meetings in advancing multidisciplinary care for patients with bone and soft tissue tumors. He emphasized the need for continued collaboration between clinicians, radiologists, and pathologists to enhance patient outcomes through evidence-based, coordinated care.

The conference concluded with positive feedback from participants, who appreciated the quality of scientific discussions and the opportunity to exchange knowledge with peers and leading experts.

In an endeavor to provide world-class Cancer care to the residents of Punjab and neighbouring states & UTs, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had dedicated 'Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre' to the Nation at Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar District, Mohali in August, 2022. The Hospital had been built at the cost of over Rs. 660 Crore by Tata Memorial Centre, an aided institute under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.

The cancer hospital is a tertiary care hospital with a 300-bed capacity. It is equipped with modern facilities to treat all types of cancers using every available treatment modality like Surgery, Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, immunotherapy and Bone marrow transplant.

The Hospital functions like a ‘hub’ of cancer care and treatment in the region, with the 150 bedded hospital in Sangrur functioning as its 'spoke'.
