Building upon Punjab’s landmark achievement of the lowest pendency in service delivery across the country, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab government is all set to significantly expand its citizen service infrastructure with opening of 54 new Sewa Kendras, taking the total count to 598 across the state, announced Good Governance and Information Technology (GG&IT) Minister Mr Aman Arora here on Tuesday.

The announcement came during a comprehensive review meeting on Citizen Service Delivery and Sewa Kendra operations chaired by the Minister at MGSIPA, attended by senior officials of the department and all Deputy Commissioners, who joined the meeting via Video Conference. Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) GG&IT Mr DK Tiwari and Director GG&IT Vishesh Sarangal also attended the meeting.

The meeting focused on the exemplary performance of the existing 544 Sewa Kendras across Punjab, which include 263 Urban and 281 Rural centres. These self-sustainable Kendras offer a vast array of 465 Government-to-Citizen (G2C) and 7 Business-to-Citizen (B2C) services. In the meeting pendency, service-wise performance, objections raised by officials and online field verification process was discussed.

Notable, it was observed that send back cases have been reduced which indicates that unnecessary objections have been reduced.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to zero pendency, Mr. Aman Arora directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure all services are delivered within the stipulated timelines.

He emphasised that districts demonstrating the best performance in application processing would be appropriately rewarded, and officials with zero pendency would also be recognised.

The GG&IT Minister also appreciated the efforts of the District Administration for on-boarding the 100% of field verification authorities Patwari/sarpanch/Nambardar/MC for online verification through E-Sewa, M-Sewa, and WhatsApp. Approximately 4 lakh applications have been received for the online verification out of which 96.3 percent of the applications are processed, he informed.

Mr. Aman Arora issued clear instructions that all construction activities for the new Sewa Kendras must be completed by January 15, 2026.

Meanwhile, Punjab Government has also initiated Sarkar Tuhade Dwaar program and started citizen service delivery portal (connect.punjab.gov.in) to enhance user experience, efficiency and accessibility.
