ABOHAR MAYOR VIMAL THATAI INAUGURATES CRICKET TOURNAMENT

The 24th Abohar Cricket Tournament, organized by the Jakhar Trust, which strives to encourage youth to stay away from drugs and participate in sports, was inaugurated at the Abha Square Stadium by Municipal Corporation Mayor Vimal Thatai as the chief guest. He said that the Trust has been encouraging youth to participate in sports and stay away from drugs for the past many years.

Councilor Puneet Arora Sonu informed that the first match was played between Baweja XI and Brother XI, in which Baweja XI, batting first, scored 102 runs in the stipulated 15 overs. In reply, Brother XI was all out for only 67 runs, and Baweja XI won the match. Shama was declared Man of the Match.

The second match was played between Sohit XI and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar XI, in which the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar XI team won the toss and, batting first, scored 160 runs, while Sohit XI could only manage 135 runs, and the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar XI team won the match. Saurabh Gakhar was declared Man of the Match.

Spokesperson Raghav Nagpal said that the winning team of the tournament will receive a prize of Rs. 51,000, the runner-up team Rs. 31,000, and the third and fourth prizes will be Rs. 5100 each. In addition, the “Man of the Series” will receive a prize of Rs. 5100.
