HARYANA BOXERS TO GET STATE-OF-THE-ART TRAINING FACILITIES

MoU SIGNED BETWEEN HARYANA SPORTS DEPARTMENT AND SPORTS AUTHORITY OF INDIA

In an important meeting held today at the Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Sports Department, Haryana and the Sports Authority of India (SAI), under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, for extension of the SAI National Boxing Centre of Excellence located at Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex, Sector-6, Rohtak, for a period of 20 years.

Under this MoU, the Sports Department, Haryana will provide the required land and basic space for the operation of the National Boxing Centre of Excellence at the Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex in Rohtak. The Sports Authority of India (SAI), on the other hand, will provide modern infrastructure, international-standard sports equipment, high-quality training arrangements, and experienced and well-trained coaching staff for the Centre. 

Chairing the meeting, Principal Secretary, Sports Department, Haryana, Sh. Vijay Singh Dahiya, said this National Boxing Centre of Excellence will provide world-class training to emerging and talented boxers of the State, which will help India achieve new heights in international boxing competitions.

 He informed that the tenure of the MoU has been fixed at 20 years, with a provision for review after 10 years, and necessary amendments and revisions will be made as required. This will ensure that the Centre remains effective and aligned with evolving needs and innovations in sports science. He said that this initiative will play a significant role in giving Haryana a strong identity in boxing not only at the national but also at the international level. 

Sh. Vijay Singh Dahiya further said that with the establishment of this National Centre of Excellence, Haryana boxers will get access to state-of-the-art training facilities, which will further strengthen India’s performance in future Olympic, Asian and world-level competitions. 

Present at the meeting were Director, Sports Department, Sh. Parth Gupta, Regional Director, Sports Authority of India, Dr. Sh. Shivam Sharma, Additional Director, Sports Department, Sh. Ashwani Malik, Deputy Director Sh. Gaurav Rawat and Sh. Ashok Kumar.
