Punjab Lok Bhawan celebrated Lohri in a traditional Punjabi manner here on Tuesday evening reflecting the cultural ethos of the festival.

The function was hosted by the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria. Those present included Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Punjab Chief Minister Sh. Bhagwant Singh Mann, Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sh. Harvinder Kalyan, Punjab Cabinet Minister Sh. Aman Arora, Sh. Harjot Singh Bains and Sh. Sanjeev Arora, Rajyasabha Member Dr. Ashok Mittal and S. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chandigarh Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla, Chandigarh Chief Secretary Sh. H. Rajesh Prasad, and senior officials of the Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh Administrations.

(SUBHEAD)Extending Lohri greetings, the Governor highlighted the festival’s cultural and social significance, saying that such celebrations promote harmony, strengthen community bonds and help preserve civilisational values.

The legend of Punjabi folk hero Dulla Bhatti (Rai Abdullah Khan Bhatti) was also remembered with awe during the festivities.

A cultural programme presented by the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC) featured folk dances and songs associated with Lohri. The lawns of Punjab Lok Bhawan were decorated to resemble a traditional heritage village, adding to the festive ambience.

A dinner was hosted for the dignitaries and guests. The Governor conveyed his best wishes for peace, prosperity and well-being to the people of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on the occasion.
