Young cricketer Aditi Shyoran, who has represented UT Cricket Association (UTCA), Chandigarh in BCCI-level Under-15 and Under-19 tournaments, has been honoured with the Sports Excellence Award by Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, Haryana for her outstanding achievements in sports.

The MDU Department of Sports conferred this prestigious honour on Aditi during the closing ceremony of the North Zone Inter-University Women’s Cricket Tournament.

MDU Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh, while felicitating Aditi, said that this daughter of Haryana has achieved remarkable success at a young age through sheer determination, setting an inspiring example for other girls. He added that the university is positively considering offering free education and hostel facilities to such promising sportspersons at the college and university levels.

Chief Guest Dr. Sharanjeet Kaur, in her address, said that when girls like Aditi excel not only in sports but in any field, it brings a positive transformation in society. She added that attending events involving sportspersons always brings her renewed energy and inspiration. Dr. Sharanjeet praised Aditi’s dedication and commitment to the game.

Dr. Shakuntla Beniwal, Director of Sports at MDU, stated that the university has always been at the forefront in promoting and supporting talented athletes.

A trainee at the Chandigarh Administration’s Cricket Academy, Sector 16, Aditi has been representing Chandigarh at state, national, and BCCI levels for the past four years. She was also the first female player to gain admission into the academy.

Aditi, a Class 10 student of Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, was part of the champion team in the first edition of the Gully Cricket Tournament, where UTCA played a key role in nurturing her talent.

She has delivered stellar performances in several state-level championships and tournaments. For her achievements, she received the State Award from the Chandigarh Administration on August 15, 2025, and was also honoured by the Haryana Government in Sonipat on Republic Day, January 26, 2025.

UTCA President Saransh Tandon congratulated Aditi on receiving the Excellence Award, praising her hard work and dedication. He expressed confidence that she will represent UTCA at higher levels in the future.

Originally from Dubheta village in Sonipat, Aditi has also served as the youngest captain of the Chandigarh U-19 Girls’ Cricket Team at the National School Level.

In 2024, she played a key role in leading her team to victory in the Gully Cricket Tournament jointly organized by UTCA and Chandigarh Police, earning the Player of the Match title in every game through her all-round performance at just 14 years of age.

Her coach Sanjeev Pathania and Carmel Convent School Principal Sister Shanta Fernandes congratulated her on this achievement. Aditi is currently preparing with the Chandigarh team for the upcoming National School Championship.
