Police reportedly arrested the parents of gangster Goldy Brar from Amritsar in connection with a case of extortion and death threats registered at the Sadar Police Station in Sri Muktsar Sahib. The action was taken following a complaint filed by a government employee who received extortion threats through WhatsApp calls from a foreign mobile number.

The complainant, Satnam Singh, informed the police that he has been working in the Education Department for the past 33 years. According to him, on November 27, 2024, while he was on duty at school, he received a call from a foreign number. The caller identified himself as a member of the Bambiha gang and demanded a ransom of ₹50 lakh. The accused threatened to kill the complainant and his family if the money was not paid.

Satnam Singh further stated that repeated calls from the same number on December 3 caused him severe mental distress. Following the complaint, the police intensified the investigation and, based on technical evidence, traced the location of the accused to Amritsar.

Subsequently, a police team detained both accused for questioning and, after completing the necessary legal formalities, formally arrested them in Amritsar.

The arrested accused have been identified as Shamsher Singh and his wife Pritpal Kaur, residents of Kotkapura Road, Sri Muktsar Sahib. According to the police, at the time of arrest, both were staying at a hotel near Sri Darbar Sahib. SSP Abhimanyu Rana has confirmed the arrests.
