In a major breakthrough, the team of District Crime Cell of Chandigarh Police acting upon the direction of W/SSP Ms. Kanwardeep Kaurand close guidance of DSP/DCC Sh. Vijay, under the supervision of Insp. Jaspal Singh Bhullar got a major success by arresting one vehicle lifter namely Shikander Singh @Babbu,arrested with 3 Cars Maruti-800, Zen and Wagnor.
(MOREPIC1)Acting on reliable information, a special police team was constituted headed by ASI Harbhajan Singh and conducted a swift operation, during which one Shikander Singh @ Babbu was apprehended from Dana Mandi Road GoluKe to Guru Har Sahai Distt. Ferozepur (PB) on 29.1.2026 along with the stolen vehicle No. HP28A-0205 involved in EFIR No. 1707 dated 27.12.2025 U/S 303(2) BNS added 317(2) BNS, PS-36, Chandigarh. Further on his instance two more four wheelers i.e. Maruti Zen No. PB65C-5713 and Wagnor No. CH03R-9150 were also recovered on his instance and taken into 106 BNSS, which have been stolen from the different part of tri-city by him.
The accused Shikander Singh @ Babbu S/o Lt. Sh. Sham Singh R/o Village Balake Rohela, PO/PS- Amir Khas, Distt. Fazilka (PB), Age-33 years., studied upto 5th Pass, working as welding work.
RECOVERY: HP28A-0205 (Maruti-800), PB65C-5713 (Zen, Stolen from Mohali), CH03R-9150 (Wagnor, Stolen from Mohali)
Modus Operandi: –The accused are found to be habitual of drugs and he used to commit thefts to arrange money for drugs. He was well aware of the localities of the city, as he was working as a welder at different places. Taking advantage of his work the accused used to move freely in various sectors and gathered detailed knowledge of parking spots and residential area.
Further investigation is in progress to ascertain his involvement in other similar cases.
