49 LACS CYBER FRAUD CASE: THREE ACCUSED ARRESTED FROM MADHYA PRADESH

Face2News/Panchkula

The Cyber Crime Police Station team of Panchkula Police has taken action against a gang involved in online fraud by promising huge profits through share market investments. Three accused arrested from Madhya Pradesh were produced before the court on June 13 after the completion of their police remand and were subsequently sent to judicial custody. The search for several other accused continues, and the investigation is progressing.

The complainant, a resident of Panchkula, was allegedly cheated of a total of ₹49.31 lakh through a well-planned fraud scheme involving share trading and primary trading accounts. The victim was initially contacted through social media platforms and added to WhatsApp groups. Later, the fraudsters convinced him to invest substantial amounts through a fake trading platform and fabricated investment procedures.

Based on the investigation, a team led by Cyber SHO Yudhvir Singh conducted an operation and arrested three accused from Madhya Pradesh. The arrested individuals have been identified as Shaitan, Atul Ahirwar, and Sahib Khan, all residents of Madhya Pradesh.

After their arrest, the accused were brought to Panchkula and produced before the court on June 5, where the police obtained an eight-day remand for interrogation. It may be recalled that in May, the police had already arrested two other accused in the same case. After a seven-day police remand, they were sent to jail.

DCP Crime and Traffic Amarinder Singh stated that the investigation has revealed the possible involvement of several suspects from other states in this cyber fraud network. Efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the remaining accused. The police are also examining how many bank accounts were used in the fraud and at what levels the network was being operated.

The investigation remains underway, with police continuing efforts to uncover the financial network linked to the cyber fraud and apprehend other involved individuals.
