On the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the elections of the Punjab Haryana Bar Council was held on Thursday under the supervision of Haryana Advocate General Baldev Raj Mahajan at Law Bhawan, Sector 37
Out of 27 votes, the winner Suvir Sidhu got 17 votes while Parvesh Yadav could managed only nine votes while one member did not cast his vote.
Ashok Singla was elected Vice Chairman unopposed while Gurtej Singh Grewal was appointed as the new Honorary Secretary.
Partap Singh, a member of the Bar Council of India, was also present during the election proceedings.
In a communication by Malkit Singh, Additional Secretary, Punjab & Haryana Bar Council stated that outgoing Chairman Minderjeet Yadav congratulated the newly elected chairman and advised him to continued the legacy with the welfare of legal fraternity
32 year old Suvir Sidhu, son of the Punjab Advocate General Dr Anmol Rattan Sidhu is the youngest Chairman across the bar councils to assume this post.
