The Health Department will conduct the Pulse Polio campaign from September 18 to 20. For the safety of the entire society, it is imperative that not a single child is deprived of the dose of polio vaccine, ADC (G) cum Abohar SDM Akash Bansal said.
While presiding over the District Task Force meeting, he appealed to the parents to bring every child between 0 and 5 years of age to the nearest polio booth for a dose of polio vaccine on September 18, Sunday. If even one child misses the polio vaccine, the risk remains.
He also instructed all the departments to make people aware and cooperate with the health department for the success of the campaign. The PSPCL officials were told to ensure 24-hour uninterrupted power supply in the hospitals built for vaccine storage from September 17 to 21.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajinderpal Bains said that on September 18, polio booths will be established and on
September 19 and 20, the teams will go door to door and give medicine to the remaining children. Each child between 0 and 5 years of age has to be given the medicine, even if he has taken the drops earlier.
Dr. Megha, Surveillance Medical Officer, said that this year there have been 21 cases of polio around the world, although there has been none in India since 2011.
Dr. Rinku Chawla said that this time the target is to give medicine to 135957 children in the district and 587 fix booths will be installed in the district, 34 transit and 28 mobile teams will work. 137 supervisors will be deployed while in the next two days 1174 teams will go to 182628 homes to give medicine to the children left behind.
Dr. Kazmi, Dr. Sahib Ram, Deputy DEO Anju Sethi, Executive Engineer Satwant Narula and District Mass Media Officer Mr. Anil Dhamu was also present.
