MLA Sandeep Jakhar has raised the issue of compensation to farmers who were affected by heavy rain and white fly attack in the border district of Fazilka. He also expressed anguish over the delay in releasing funds for the under-construction bus stand in Abohar.

Jakhar said that in view of the functioning of the Aam Aadmi Party government, the adage of 'elephant tusks to eat and show’ is remembered, because during the last Vidhan Sabha session, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann approved the work of Abohar Bus Stand in the House and assured to get it completed in 3-4 months, but the work has come to a standstill due to non-release of arrears of prescribed funds.

Also, to compensate the loss caused to the farmers due to heavy rains in the year 2020, the Chief Minister had on September 7, announced after a high-level meeting of the officers that Rs 32 crores will be given to the farmers of Fazilka district, but even today the farmers were waiting for the compensation amount.(SUBHEAD)

He appealed to the CM to release the compensation amount of the farmers and arrears of the bus stand at the earliest. “The Aam Aadmi Party was exposing its own face in front of the public by making false promises. Their emphasis was centered on Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat Assembly poll preparations, Punjab people were being ignored,” the MLA said. EOM
