DELHI POLICE CRACK DOWN ON GAMBLERS, TEN HELD WITH CASH OF RS. 5.31 LACS

The team of AATS Staff of South-East District has arrested ten gamblers Priyanshu, Uttam, Ashok, Arun, Punit, Irfan, Vimal, Kamal Hasan, Himanshu and Sonu. With their arrest, cash of Rs 5,31,980/- and two decks of playing cards have been recovered from their possession.

As per the directions of senior officers regarding zero tolerance for organized crime in the area of Southeast District, police staff put sincere efforts. In this persuasion, a dedicated team comprising SI Nagendra Kumar, ASI Dheer Singh, ASI Rajiv Kumar, ASI Roop Singh, ASI Sharwan, HC Amrit, HC Mohit and Ct. Mohit led by Insp. Rajender Dagar I/C AATS/SED under the supervision of Sh. Satpal Panwar ACP/Ops. was constituted to nab the gamblers.

On 21.10.2022, the team received a secret information that a group of persons was gambling in a rented house at Harkesh Nagar, Okhla Ph-II. Responding on to the secret tip, the team raided at the said location under the directions of senior officials and arrested ten persons who were staking money on playing cards.   Accordingly, a case FIR No 765/22 u/s 04/09/55 Gambling Act was registered at PS Okhla Industrial Area. With their arrest, cash of Rs 5,31,980/- and two decks of playing cards have been recovered from their possession. Further investigation of the case is under progress. 

(SUBHEAD)Esha Paney, IPS, DCP, South Distt, said, on sustained interrogation, all the accused persons disclosed that they do not have a permanent job or other means to earn their livelihood. They used to work for few days at a place and then left for other means to earn money. They are addicted to alcohol and drugs. In order to earn quick money, they started gambling to meet their requirements.

KNOW THE ACCUSED: –

 Priyanshu s/o Karan R/o Okhla Ph-II, Delhi age 21 yrs has studied up to 10th class. He is previously involved in 03 cases of Gambling Act., Accused Ashok s/o Pappu Singh R/o Okhla Ph-II, Delhi age 29 yrs. He works as daily wages to earn his livelihood. He is previously involved in 03 cases of Gambling Act., Arun s/o Mahavir R/o Harkesh Nagar, Delhi age 23 yrs has studied up to 7th class. He used to work as labourer. He is previously involved in 02 cases of Gambling Act., Punit s/o Vinod R/o Khanpur, Delhi age 21 yrs has studied up to 12th class. He is previously involved in 01 case of Gambling Act.,  Uttam s/o Dulal R/o Okhla Ph-III, Delhi age 30 yrs has studied up to 7th class. He works on daily wages to earn his livelihood. No previous involvement has been found against him. Irfan s/o Saleem R/o Trilokpuri, Delhi age 28 yrs has studied up to 08th class. No previous involvement has been found against him. Vimal s/o Rejinder R/o Shakarpur, Delhi age 44 yrs has studied up to 08th class. He works on daily wages to earn his livelihood. No previous involvement has been found against him., Kamal Hasan s/o Abdul Majid R/o Dilshad Garden, Delhi age 23 yrs has studied up to 02th class. No previous involvement has been found against him., himanshu s/o Vijay R/o Devli Ext., Delhi age 26 yrs has studied up to 12th class. No previous involvement has been found against him AND Sonu s/o Nanakram R/o Andrew Ganj, Delhi age 28 yrs has studied up to 12th class. No previous involvement has been found against him.
