PALLEDAR LABOUR UNION DELEGATION MEETS GOVERNOR AND CM

The long-standing demands of Punjab’s Palledar (loading/unloading) labourers were brought directly to the attention of the Governor and the Chief Minister. A delegation from the Joint Action Committee of the Punjab Pradesh Palledar Labour Union met with Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to present the workers’ grievances. After listening to the delegation, the Chief Minister reportedly assured them of a speedy resolution to their demands and issues.

Union office-bearers expressed special gratitude to social worker and industrialist Karan Gilhotra for facilitating the meetings. Union representative Bakhtawar Singh said that they had recently contacted Gilhotra regarding the need for the meeting. Taking the workers’ issues seriously, Gilhotra took immediate initiative and paved the way for the meeting with the Governor and the Chief Minister.

Office-bearers of the Joint Action Committee and the Palledar Union said that, thanks to Gilhotra’s efforts, the issues faced by thousands of Palledar labourers reached the highest levels of government. Union leaders said that the Chief Minister’s assurance of a quick resolution has instilled hope among them.

It was crucial to present their case regarding long-pending demands to the government. Thanking Karan Gilhotra, they acknowledged that he took the workers’ issues seriously without delay and assisted in arranging the meetings.
