LT GEN SANJIV RAI TAKES OVER THE COMMAND OF CHETAK CORPS

Lt. General JB Chaudhari handed over command of the prestigious Chetak Corps to Lt. General Sanjiv Rai after a successful tenure of more than a year. 

During his farewell address, the General Officer Commanding complimented all ranks of the Chetak Corps for their commitment, zeal and loyalty to the organisation. He urged them to continue to strive for professional excellence and hone soldierly skills aligning with the requirements of the future, to integrate technology and adapt to the challenges of a complex future battlefield milieu and social environment.

The GOC felt that empathy and kindness, coupled with a firm resolve and a desire to deliver, towards the organization are the basic tenets of leadership. He added that with the larger goal in mind each soldier must ensure commitment to the service. 

(SUBHEAD)During his tenure, he emphasised on maintaining a high threshold of operational readiness to enable fulfillment of any challenge that may present itself in the future. He has constantly maintained that the success in operations will depend on a positive and offensive attitude, continued force modernization, excellence in training, security consciousness, earnest work culture and focused Human Resource management. Infusion of technology, operation-oriented training and development of modern infrastructure were his focus areas, as he strived to make the Chetak Corps excel in all fields. 

The General Officer commanded an Infantry Battalion on Western borders, Infantry Brigade and Infantry Division on the Northern borders. He has also been an instructor at Indian Military Academy Dehradun, Indian Military Training Team Bhutan and Adjutant, National Defence Academy Khadakwasla Pune. Before taking over the command of Chetak Corps, he was Military Secretary to the President of India. During his long service, he has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal.
