With the arrest of two persons, Special Staff East District, has busted an online cricket betting racket. Stakes were being played on Pakistan- England World Cup T-20 Final Match. The arrested persons identified as Mukul R/O Patparganj, Delhi Age -26 and Gaurav R/O Pandav Nagar Delhi, Age -33
A team of Special Staff, East District led by Inspector Satendra Khari comprising SI Pramod Singh, ASIs Amar Pal & Neeraj, HCs Yuvender, Shani Rathi and Ct Ravi under the supervision of Sh. Pankaj Arora ACP/OPS/East Distt received a tip-off regd. online betting racket being run in Pandav Nagar Area. On the basis this information the team conducted a raid at 2nd Floor, C-49, Pandav Nagar, Delhi wherein two persons viz Mukul R/O Patparganj Village, Delhi Age -26 and Gaurav r/o Pandav Nagar, Delhi, Age-33 were found playing online Satta and getting bids using laptop & mobile phones. Registers having record of accounts of satta proceeds were also seized. On this a case Vide FIR No. 697/22 u/s 3/4/9 Delhi Public Gambling Act 1955 was registered at PS Mandawali, Delhi. (SUBHEAD)
Amrutha Guguloth, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, East Delhi, said during interrogation accused Mukul disclosed that two persons namely Dhruv and Praveen are their partners in this illegal satta racket. The duo live in the flat situated on the first floor of the same building. They keep illegal arms and if search is made weapons could be recovered. A search of the said flat was conducted. One fine quality U.S made 9mm pistol and twenty two used cartridges of .32 bore were recovered from a bed lying in the alleged flat. On this a separate FIR No. 699/22 u/s 25 Arms Act was also got registered at PS Mandawali. Delhi.
The duo disclosed that they indulged in running illegal satta racket for a long time. They have two other partners in the crime. They used online software installed in the laptop to get the rates of gambling on session basis and the same were being forwarded to the punters who were putting session wise stake. They further disclosed that Dhruv and Praveen are allegedly involved in land grabbing as well. They kept illegal arms. They used illegal weapon to recover the money they earned from the satta proceedings.
KNOW THE ACCUSED: Accused Mukul is a school drop out. He is previously involved in one case of robbery registered at PS Pandav Nagar for which he had to spend 5 months in Jail. After coming out of bars he needed money and got in touch with Gaurav, Dhruv and Praveen who were already in this illegal trade of satta. Accused Gaurav is a graduate . During pandemic he became jobless and got involved in this gambling racket. He has no previous criminal involvement.
Further investigation is on to nab the remaining co-accused.
