At a time when many people struggle to find time even for themselves, Ferozepur witnessed a heartening example of humanity and social responsibility as 84 individuals came forward to donate blood at a blood donation camp jointly organised by Press Club Ferozepur and Mayank Foundation. The donors pledged a priceless gift that could save the lives of unknown patients battling critical medical conditions.
The most touching moments of the camp unfolded when several families arrived together to participate in the noble cause. In some cases, husbands and wives donated blood alongside their sons, while elsewhere fathers stood shoulder to shoulder with their sons and daughters in contributing to the life-saving initiative. These scenes reflected how values of compassion, service, and humanity are best passed on to future generations through actions rather than words.
Ferozepur SSP Bhupinder Singh, who attended the event as the chief guest, described blood donation as the greatest form of charity. He said that a single unit of blood can become a ray of hope for a patient fighting for life in a hospital. It can help save a family from tragedy, preserve a mother’s happiness, protect a child from losing a parent, and bring hope to those facing medical emergencies.
Press Club Ferozepur President Gaurav Manik said the decision to organise the camp was taken immediately after learning about the acute shortage of blood in local blood banks. Within just three days, volunteers reached out to people across the district and motivated them to participate in the cause. Their efforts resulted in the collection of 84 units of blood, which will prove invaluable for patients in need.
Representatives of Mayank Foundation said that such social service initiatives would continue in the future as well. They appealed to the public to donate blood regularly so that no patient suffers due to a shortage of blood and more precious lives can be saved.Several donors shared their feelings during the event, saying that the greatest satisfaction comes from knowing that a small act can make the difference between life and death for someone in need. They said that if their contribution helps preserve the happiness of a family, there can be no greater reward.
To acknowledge their contribution, all blood donors were honoured with medals, certificates, and saplings. Organisers also used the occasion to spread awareness about environmental conservation and encouraged people to plant more trees.
More than just a blood donation camp, the event emerged as a celebration of humanity, social responsibility, and the collective commitment to saving lives. It served as a powerful reminder that even today, there are countless individuals willing to step forward selflessly to help those they may never meet, yet whose lives may depend upon such acts of kindness.
