AND THEN MAKING REQUESTS THROUGH THEIR WHATSAPP TO ACQUAINTANCES AND GROUP MEMBERS FOR EMERGENCY PAYMENT, THE ACCUSED WAS EARLIER ARRESTED IN A CASE REGISTERED AT PS SPECIAL CELL, DELHI AND WAS ALSO ABSCONDING FROM INVESTIGATION OF CASE FIR NO. 47/22 PS CYBER SOUTH WEST, 20 COMPLAINTS OF SIMILAR MODUS OPRANDI TRACED IN DELHI, NOIDA & GURUGRAM. 02 MOBILE PHONES, 04 SIM CARDS AND ONE VOLKSWAGEN POLO CAR USED IN COMMISSION OF OFFENCE RECOVERED.

Continuing the drive against Cyber fraudsters, who were duping gullible citizens, a dedicated team of PS Cyber North led by SI Rohit, comprising of SI Ranjit, SI Guman, W/SI Deepa, ASI Mahesh Kumar, HC Vipin and HC Praveen, under the close supervision of Inspr.PawanTomar, SHO/PS Cyber North District and guidance of Shri Dharmender Kumar, ACP/Operations arrested a cyberfraudster from Palwal (Haryana) after 10 KM Chase in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Haryana for duping victims on the pretext of 3rd Corona Booster dosage and Hacking of Whats App.
A complaint on MHA Cyber Crime Portal from a lady complainant r/o Delhi, aged-55 years (who is a government officer) was received in Cyber Police Station North District wherein she alleged that she received a call and caller pretended himself to be Dr. Sunil and informed that the call is regarding Covid Booster Dose and got a call merged in another Whatsapp call starting with +133 and thus got access of her WhatsApp.
Thereafter he requested for emergency payment to her friends and acquaintances through her Whatsapp account. Her relatives transferred Rs. 60,000/- in fake Bank accounts on the request of fraudster. The complainant came to know about this fraud when she was informed by her friends. Accordingly, case vide FIR No. 32/22 dated 11.04.2022 u/s 420 IPC was registered at Cyber North Police Station in this regard.
OPERATION: A dedicated team of police station was assigned the task to identify the accused person. Technical analysis of several mobile numbers was done. At the same time money trail of cheated amount was also traced. The investigation revealed that call was made from a mobile number of Bihar telecom circle but linked mobile numbers were active in Palwal and Nuh Mewat, Haryana.
(SUBHEAD)On the basis of detail analysis accused Manish Kumar r/o Jhabar Nagar, Palwal, Haryana, aged-37 years was identified and arrested on 16.11.2022 by the dedicated team of Cyber North Police Station after a long chase of about 100 Kilometres across 3 states from Palwal, Haryana. 02 Mobile phones, make Samsung & Intel, 04 SIM Cards and One Volkswagen Polo car used in commission of offence were recovered from his possession.
INTERROGATION: Mr. Sagar Singh Kalsi, IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Police, North District, Delhi, said, during interrogation, the accused Manish Kumar revealed that he would purchase pre-activated SIM of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh & Rajasthan from various sources. Accused also purchased pre-activated bank accounts, which were used for payment and withdrawal. The accused used to make call to innocent persons and would inform that the call was regarding Covid Booster dosage. The accused would pretend himself as a Doctor and got a call merged for verification of identity and got access the WhatsApp and asked money to friends and other acquaintances of the caller.

FIR NO 907/2015 u/s 354-D PS Sarojini Nagar and wanted in FIR No. 47/22 u/s 420 IPC PS Cyber South West District, Delhi)
RECOVERY: 02 Mobile Phones, make Samsung & Intel., 04 SIM Cards (Airtel, Jio&Voda)., One Volkswagen Polo car.
