Five kg heroin was also found near a damaged drone in a field in Bhuttiwala village in Srikaranpur sector of Sriganganagar district. A case was registered under the NDPS Act.
(MOREPIC1) As per Sources, a farmer of Chak 24-O village, while working in the field, found suspicious packets and a drone at a distance. On being informed by him, jawans from the nearby BSF post reached the spot. They informed the higher officials after inspection.
BSF officers later reached the spot and took the packets in custody along with the drone. A search was initiated by the BSF in the surrounding area but it was stopped due to darkness, the same was resumed next morning.(SUBHEAD)
It is learnt that BSF jawans had last week fired after seeing the activity of a suspicious drone. Next day, BSF conducted a search with the help of villagers, but then no suspicious packet/ object was found. It was estimated that due to the firing, the suspected drone went back towards Pakistan.
On finding the damaged drone and heroin packets, it is believed that the drone got damaged and fell in the firing by BSF. Along with it the heroin packets also fell in the Indian territory. Suspected smugglers who had come to take delivery of heroin perhaps disappeared after hearing gunshots.
