CM MANN URGED TO CORRECT MAHAVIR JANAM KALYANAK HOLIDAY DATE

In a letter to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Vishwa Jain Sangthan (Punjab Chapter) has sought a correction in the list of holidays. State Co-ordinator Dr Sandeep Jain has said in the letter that as per Punjab Government List of Holidays, Mahavir Jayanti is shown on 4th April the Mahavir Janam Kalyanak (appropriate word for Tirthankaras) falls on Chaitra tryodshi shukal paksha which is on April 3.

He said that the state government should correct and declare Holiday on Mahavir Janam Kalyanak on April 3. In all publications and communications Mahavir Jayanti may be mentioned as Bhagwan Mahavir Janam Kalyanak. The Rajasthan Government has already made the correction of date in List of Holidays. A copy of the Rajasthan notification has been attached with the letter.
