A flag march, in view of the situation arising in the state due to the arrest of Waris Punjab De activists and search for fugitive WPD chief Amritpal Singh, was taken out here today. SSP Avneet Kaur Sidhu led the march that was joined by DSP Sukhwinder Singh, Station House officers Paramjit Kumar, Harpreet Singh and Baljit Singh Jatana besides dozens of cops of other ranks.

The flag march started from city (1) police station and passed through all the main roads of the city. SSP Sidhu appealed to maintain peace and harmony by extending cooperation to maintain law and order.

She said that no anti-social element would be allowed to raise its head. The entire area of Fazilka is safe and the situation here is completely satisfactory. The residents here should not get carried away by any kind of rumours. None will be spared if found spreading fake news or messages. Anybody trying to vitiate the atmosphere will not be spared. Vigil on the inter-state border has been stepped up, vehicles were checked at special nakas on the highways.
