Ajinder Cheema, who has been active in selfless and continuous social service for many years in Sriganganagar, has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented to her by Bela Sachdeva, District Chairperson, Inner wheel Club, at the 37th Intercity Meet of the organisation (District 309) held at Faridkot.
(SUBHEAD)Ajinder is the wife of Avtar Singh Cheema who was the first Indian and sixteenth person in the world to climb Mount Everest. Along with 8 others he was a part of the third mission undertaken by the Indian Army, in 1965, to climb Mount Everest.
Associated with the Inner Wheel Club for many years, Ajinder had also served as its district chairperson. Office bearers of 15 clubs from Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana enthusiastically participated in the Intercity Meet. Anita Batra, President of Inner Wheel Club Sriganganagar said that Dr. Kapila Gupta, former International President, was the chief guest at the Intercity Meet. She also appreciated the service spirit of Ajinder Cheema. Group dance competitions, aerobics and costume competitions were also organized during the function
