MLA Sandeep Jakhar said at a press conference at his Subhash Nagar residence on Monday that the Punjab govt has released the first instalment of Rs 73 lakh for the renovation of Abohar's bus stand. The Municipal Corporation will start the work soon. Although the funds had been delayed a lot, still I am thankful to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann who had in June 2022 assured that renovation will be completed soon. Mayor Vimal Thatai was also present at the media-interaction.

The MLA criticized the state government for wasting Rs 75,000 on putting publicity hoardings of Yogshala in Abohar alone. Only five hoardings were enough, the remaining amount should have been spent on city parks and coaching for yoga.

He said, “Even when govt procurement of wheat was to start on Baisakhi, the office of Arhtiya Association was lying closed here due to factionalism in the ruling party that had changed four presidents in a year. The AAP high command has no time to resolve the dispute despite people making requests repeatedly.

The MLA reiterated his demand for appointing full-time Commissioner of Municipal Corporation here. IAS officer Abhijeet Kaplish was transferred from Abohar about a year back but none appointed on regular post of Commissioner after that. This affects day to day work including collecting taxes and speeding public work.
